Pilling

Pills occur on textiles when groups of short or broken fibres become tangled and form a tiny knot or ball. The pills form due to friction or abrasion during normal wear and use. Pilling can be reduced by using long staple fibres, using superior spinning techniques such as ring compact spinning, or by applying finishing techniques that eliminate short staple fibres (s.a. Naturally Clean or mercerization).
